What an amazing moment to see my truly cosmopolitan goddaughter @aliaxequus exhibiting her beautiful horsehair textiles. Woven from horse tails (riding is her passion), these exquisite works take inspiration from the various countries she has lived in across four continents. For more info get in touch or visit www.aliawilmot.com. She was deservedly awarded the emerging artist and public’s choice award (last image) amongst her exhibiting group @londoncraftweek #contemporaryart #contemporarytextiles #artconsultancy #hollandridge #hollandridgegroup

You can’t help but get swept up into a world of mythical creatures from the Jurassic to the prehistoric and from the natural wonders of our planet to the fantasia of art, sculpture, furniture and design curated and created by James and Sophie Perkins. So enjoyed getting lost in it all!

Exploring the raw depths of human emotion and as a response to his isolation during Covid, Rashid Johnson’s ‘Anxious Men’ series confronts our shared vulnerabilities. Through expressive faces etched into waxy surfaces, these works resonate with the universal experience of anxiety. Johnson’s art invites us to reflect on our own inner struggles and the collective challenges we face. This work sold at Christie’s last well making £441,000, over double the lower estimate. #rashidjohnson #anxiety #contemporarypainting #christies

What a morning strolling through The Verbier 3-D F
What a morning strolling through The Verbier 3-D Foundation’s powerful collection of sculptures reflecting the intersection of art, nature, and environmental consciousness. This year’s artist in residence, Rena Begum’s No.1387 Fence (1,2) stands starkly in bright pink against the snow integrating ephemeral materials to emphasise the changing seasons and human interaction with the environment. Josette Taramarcaz’s ‘Arche’ (3) reflects migration and the human search for stability, using an arch to symbolise shelter and protection. Kiki Thompson (4), who is also the curator of the exhibition, presents ‘Samsara’ exploring life cycles, rebirth, and the fragility of existence, inspired by Buddhist teachings and the alpine landscape. Donna Dodson’s ‘Baby Bringer’ (6) shows a pregnant white stark headed figure, almost a snowman, representing a goddess of motherhood which celebrates the fertility of nature. James Capper’s AERO CAB (7) merges art and engineering, creating a sustainable vehicle to navigate glaciers, highlighting climate change concerns. Andy Moerlein’s ‘Uprooted’ (8) is a stark symbol of environmental disruption, finally ‘What if we never happened’ by Jonathan Wright leaves us questioning what this valley would be like without the mark of humanity. All these sculptures invite reflection on our connection to nature, urging us to consider the fragility and resilience of life and the impact of human activity on the world around us.

What a pleasure to view this wonderful portrait for a client yesterday. Circle of Tilly Kettle, circa 1785, this portrait of a Young Girl in a Bonnet will look fabulous in her bedroom. The shawl of Indian design almost certainly from the East Indian Company, for which textiles were a huge proportion exports. The period 18th century frame is a work of art in itself. Collaboration @vsp_interiors ♥️

Interesting morning with client @suzyhoodless and @timothytaylorgallery surveying Shanghai-based artist Ding Yi who has spent decades exploring abstraction through his signature motif: the cross. His intricate, layered grids—often painted in vibrant neon or deep monochrome—are meditations on structure, order, and urban transformation.

Drawing upon Eastern philosophy and Western Aesthetics traditional Chinese aesthetics with modern precision, Ding Yi’s works pulse with energy, reflecting the rhythm of contemporary life. Whether on canvas, wood, or textiles, his meticulous compositions challenge perception and invite contemplation. Solo show of his work at Mostyn 15th February until 31st May. #DingYi #ContemporaryArt #Abstraction #ChineseArt #ArtCollectors #Minimalism

A mesmerising leap into Symbolism with Paul Ranson
A mesmerising leap into Symbolism with Paul Ranson’s Le Grand Tigre (1893). With bold graphic lines, this striking piece channels the Nabi philosophy transcending mere representation and emphasising emotion, spirituality and the artist’s inner vision. Inspired by Japanese woodblock prints, Ranson’s work exemplifies a shift away from naturalism toward something more intuitive and symbolic.
A true pioneer of the modernist movement.

Great client meeting with @suzyhoodless @sadiecole
Great client meeting with @suzyhoodless @sadiecoleshq looking at these stunning paintings by #alvarobarrington Barrington grew up in Grenada where he was raised by his grandmother before moving to Brooklyn from aged 8 with his mother. These works draw on the sunsets he saw there and remembers from his childhood. In their simplicity they capture the essence of the Caribbean, each canvas grounded by their rustic wooden frames referencing materials from the island. His sunset series draws inspiration from many artists before him, in the first instance Rothko and the second Monet. Barrington rose to acclaim after he was offered a solo show at MOMA PS1 following his graduate show at the Slade in 2017. Last year he was chosen for the prestigious Tate Britain annual award with his exhibition GRACE after his grandmother and focussing on two other important women in his life, his mother and sister. The exhibition was split into three parts of his life ‘Caribbean Childhood’, ‘Carnival’ and ‘Urban Realities’
