In the 1970s William Scott was in correspondence with Dovecot Studios but the connection had long waned until 2007 when David Weir, as Director of Dovecot, approached his estate. Managed by Scott's son, Robert Scott, the estate was delighted to collaborate with Dovecots then Head Weaver Douglas Grierson, to select 3 Scott images, which they felt would be translated most effectively by the weaving team at Dovecot.

In respect to his father's struggle with Alzheimer’s disease, Robert likes to see as much benefit from the estate as possible going towards the Alzheimer’s Society. Dovecot is producing an addition of 5 of each of the selected images and will give 15% of the net sales to the outside the Alzheimer’s Society.More »

He described his own work thus:

“I am an abstract artist in the sense that I am abstract. I cannot be called non-figurative why I'm still interested in the modern magic of space, primitive sex forms, the sensual and erotic, disconcerting contours, the things of life”
