Alex Hammersley’s interest in the art market and contemporary art in particular was ignited when she worked at the art magazine Art in America in Soho, New York in the late 1990’s. She went on to run a contemporary art gallery in the Tribeca area of the City. This had followed a ten year career as a director of a marketing and public relations agency and when she returned to the UK a few years later she worked in the Press and Special Events departments at Sotheby’s, London.
She has maintained an active interest in the art market ever since and Alex Hammersley Art (AHA) was born in 2015 when she started working with a friend to find artwork for her home. A match was made, artwork was bought and sold and AHA came into existence.
Alex strongly believes that there is a wealth of extraordinary talent just waiting to be discovered and there is an equal amount of people wanting to navigate the art market, not sure where to start. All they need is a little help. Clients now range from private individuals searching for one or two pieces for their home, to designers and developers of hotels and commercial property.
Recently AHA has worked in collaboration with Sarah Percy-Davis at SPD Art Market Enterprises to source works from a broader artist spectrum – from antiquity to contemporary and across all disciplines of the fine and decorative arts. This extended network has enabled us to answer a wider brief and create a one stop shop for those looking for a range of artworks. The Hollandridge Group has been formed as a joint venture to formalise this relationship and ensure that we now offer our clients the very best our extensive network can offer.
